How to Profit from your Point of Sale Area: 5 Guidelines

Your point of sale area is a powerful sales tool.  It can motivate the buyer to make additional purchases just before they leave your store.

In order for your point of sale area to be effectively working for you bottom line, it needsto follow these five guidelines:

  1. The area needs to be attractive and eye-catching. It needs to grab the customer’s attention and make an impact.
  2. It needs to remind the customer that they need something that they didn’t know (or had forgotten) that they needed.  Think about your purchase area as the last place that you can help them.  What might they need when they get home with their purchase and wish they had bought while in the store?
  3. The area needs to be tidy.  Messy areas repel customers.
  4. Make sure that the area is clear.  Confusing messages repel customers.

If your POS area does not follow the above guidelines, it could probably do with a decent makeover.
